We recognise that it is not always possible or practical for both parties to attend mediation at our office in Dorking. This may be due to reasons of disability, geographical location or for reasons relating to your employment. For this reason we are also pleased to offer mediation meetings online via zoom. You can attend the meeting via your PC, tablet, smart phone – or even landline telephone (although this means you will only hear and not see the conversation). Online mediation works in the same way as ‘in person’ mediation in that the mediator facilitates discussion between the two of you and encourages you to hear each other. The mediator also helps you to map out what each option will look like so that you can see whether it will work for both of you. The tools used online are slightly different to the tools used when you’re both present in the room but the purpose and process remains the same.
The costs below include price increases that took effect on 1st September (postponed from 1st April due to the situation with COVID-19) 2020.
Online mediation is carried out slightly differently because it is generally more intensive to mediate whilst looking at a screen rather than people. For this reason the initial meetings take place in the same way, but the joint meetings can last for only 1 hour instead of 1.5 hours (save for the first joint meeting which is always 1.5 hours). You may therefore need more meetings than if you are undertaking mediation ‘in person’ but this is not always the case. The cost of the initial meetings are £150 (the same as they are when you attend in person). Along side all the usual purposes of the first meeting in online mediation the purpose is also to check that you can access the meetings OK and that there are no technical glitches that need to be sorted out. For this reason they can take slightly longer.
The joint meetings cost £300 for a 1 hour meeting and £400 for a 1.5 hour meeting. This can be split equally between you or paid in one payment. Payment for online mediation is by bank transfer prior to the appointment. The costs of preparing the documents at the conclusion of the mediation process are the same and more information can be found by clicking here.
We also offer fixed fee packages of online mediation packages (as we do ‘in person’ mediation) and these are as follows:
4 session package (1 x 1.5 hour session, followed by 3 x 1 hour sessions): £1,100 (saving you £200)
Up to 7 sessions (the first is 1.5 hours and subsequent sessions are 1 hour) including an Open Financial Statement and Memorandum of Understanding: £2,300 (saving you £550)
