Forthcoming live webinars
Having not run any live training events this year I have missed them! So I am running a one off webinar for 2 hours at 9.30 a.m on Wednesday 11th November entitled “Why won’t my client listen?!!”. It will be an interactive webinar (but don’t worry no role play!) where I will ask you to bring a recent case where you felt that your client or clients did not listen to you. It is suitable for both family lawyers and family mediators. We will cover:
- Barriers to moving forward (things like grief, mental health issues and neurodiversity)
- Creating an initial process that ensures your clients share things with you (but without you having to do more work)
- Understanding what your clients are really trying to achieve (clue it might not be the headline they keep mentioning)
- Being genuinely curious and the difference this can make
- Some other important things that will make your job easier but you probably won’t have thought about

Understanding and Managing High Conflict for Lawyers and Mediators
This course is for all family lawyers and mediators who want to better skill themselves up to deal with high conflict situations. The course looks at the different causes of high conflict (grief, searching for the truth, communication skills and styles) and helps you to recognise potentially high conflict cases from the outset. It also looks at what might be something that looks high conflict but is actually caused by one person, and situations where it is both people engaging in the conflict.
As well as helping you to identify situations that are high conflict it gives you a number of practical strategies to help you to deal with this effectively.
It also looks at the effect this can have on us as practitioners and our own sense of wellbeing. The whole course is broken down into sections and small videos. You can watch them all in one go or space them out around other commitments. It’s only £47 for the entire course.
