Intro (this is how to introduce me)
Louisa Whitney is an accredited family mediator and a child inclusive mediator. She’s also a PPC, a trainer and a non-practising solicitor.
Short biography
Louisa Whitney is an accredited family mediator and a child inclusive mediator. She also supervises and mentors other mediators and trains other family law professionals. She is a non-practising solicitor who made the move to let go of her lawyer hat to be a family mediator full time in 2013 when she set up LKW Family Mediation. She describes this as feeling like she was helping clients to put out fires as a lawyer, whereas as a mediator she could teach people to avoid starting the fires. She is also a Highly Sensitive Person. She is passionate about the fundamentals of effective communication which she calls the 4Cs (Calm, Constructive, Conscious, Compassionate).

She describes herself as a student of conflict since she became a mediator in 2012. As a Highly Sensitive person Louisa notices and tunes in to nuances that others do not see and so she considers herself to be an intuitive and attentive student of conflict. This led her to describe the fundamentals of communication as the 4 Cs: calm, constructive, conscious and compassionate. As well as providing empathetic family mediation she also provides resources for separating couples to help them create tailor made resolutions themselves without spending a fortune on professionals.
